Analyzing the 2017 Oscar Nominations

This week brought about the nominations for the 89th Academy Awards, and they were surprisingly without controversy. The movies everyone liked—Moonlight, Manchester by the Sea, and La La Land—were showered with praise, and some of the odder predictions—Deadpool for Best Picture—never came to pass.

Then again, the oft-racist Mel Gibson did get a nomination for Best Director. Don't worry, film fans; Andrew and Steve are here to answer all your questions. Despite being renowned Oscar haters, they give into the hype and break down all the big nominations on the latest episode of the In Reel Deep Podcast
